An unsupported option in Weav is to use Miracast (Wifi Direct) for sharing of Windows laptop devices and some android phones.  This technology allows these devices to share their screens without being on the same network.  They do require the proper  wifi-direct hardware.  This option is current unsupported to use at your own risk.

Supported Devices

Check if Windows computer can support Miracast/WifiDirect

For Miracast/Wifi-Direct to work you must have the proper WiFi card and software on the Windows host computer.  If you are connecting with Windows client computers they must also have the correct wifi card and software

1. download, unzip and run the CheckMiracast powershell script (download from here)

2. you should have the following values:

  • BIOS Version date later than 20170101
  • Wireless Display Support: Wireless Display Supported: Yes
  • NDIS Version for wi-fi adapter card(s) 6.3 or higher
  • WDDM Driver model version 1.3 or higher

What Android Devices Support Miracast/Wifi-Direct?

Android phone certified to support Miracast should work with weav.  Check with you manufacturer.  

If your Android device supports Miracast, the "Screen Mirroring",  Smart View" or "Quick Connect" option will be available in the Settings app or in the pull-down/notification menu. Some Samsung devices running Android versions 4.x do not have this option

Locate the WLAN Auto Config Service

Start it

"Miracast in use by another app"

This is almost always the built-in Microsoft Connect app.
